The unelected civil servants have gone and what a message they take with them! Speaker after speaker, some 50 of them, many of them our members, bravely walked to that lectern and whilst being filmed in conditions resembling a criminal trial, passionately argued for Cornwall, some speaking in our Cornish language - while only three speakers, all Conservatives, failed to speak out against a cross-Tamar seat

So what now?

Media Release from Kernow Matters To Us:

The Westminster Government announced yesterday that despite a petition which included thousands of signatures, it no longer intended to financially support the indigenous Cornish language. 

It is now in clear breach of its legal obligations agreed and signed off in 2002.

As a recognised indigenous national minority, one might expect the Cornish to get at least a Trident's tailfin worth of support from the UK government, but no such support has been forthcoming since they ended their token funding more than a year ago.

Went the day well?

The Polson Bridge occupation of Sunday 30th October, 2016

A fine day weather wise on Sunday 30th October, 2016 bode well for a good protest on the bridge at Polson just beneath Launceston in Cornwall. At Polson the bridge crosses the River Tamar, the time honoured and ancient thousand year old boundary between Celtic Cornwall and Anglo Saxon England, the eastern border of which was set in 936AD  by the then King Athelstan of the Anglo Saxons.

A special bronze plaque commemorating miners who helped found the town's community hospital 102 years ago was unveiled in the Welsh town of Maesteg yesterday (29th October). Miners from the Llynfi Valley donated a penny a week from their own hard earned wages to enable the hospital to be built in 1914. Over the years many increased their contributions to support the hospital and provide a vital health service, which continues to serve the Llynfi Valley.
