Focus on what's good for Wales and vote Plaid Cymru

Plaid Cymru - Party of Wales leader Leanne Wood Wales has called on Welsh electors to vote in Wales's national interest in the UK General Election being held on June 8. She said that we must move beyond the European Union referendum and look to the future.

Local election results in Wales see significant gains for Plaid Cymru

Plaid Cymru - Party of Wales has won 202 seats across Wales in last weeks 2017 local elections, increasing its number of seats by 33. Their gains were spread across Wales, including breaking through into traditional Labour strongholds such as Aberavon, Blaenau Gwent, Bridgend, Denbigh, Neath and Wrexham. Plaid Cymru achieved its best ever result in their key target seat of Ynys Mon whilst also becoming the largest party in Rhondda, which Plaid Cymru won from Labour in the 2016 Assembly election.

 

Rhestr o Enwau Lleoedd Hanesyddol: Launch of ground-breaking website listing historic Welsh place names

A new online register recording historic place names in Wales has been launched. The list, which already has nearly 350,000 location entries, will be regularly updated. The Welsh Government included the requirement for a statutory list in its Historic Environment (Wales) Act.

Not quite the shake up we need in the Celtic nations!

There is no doubt that the Celtic nations would all benefit from the positive political shake-up offered by progressive nationalism. However, there are some shake-ups we could maybe do without. Seismic activity being one, with a recent study showing a number of areas in the Celtic nations being identified as some of the most earthquake prone in the British Isles. 

Plaid Cymru - The Party of Wales launches election campaign with pledge to defend Wales

Plaid Cymru launched its General election campaign today in the Welsh city of Bangor. The UK General Election is being held on June 8th. Party Leader Leanne Wood told activists that Labour is too "weak and divided" to stand up for Wales. She went on to say that the prospect of more Plaid Cymru MPs in Westminster offers Wales a "ray of hope" with the party determined to do everything within its power to prevent Wales from being sidelined and forgotten.

Coming elections and the Celtic nations

Elections are being held that will have a major impact on all of the Celtic nations. Voters in Brittany will be casting their votes in the first round of the 2017 French presidential election on 23 April 2017. Should no candidate win a majority, a run-off election between the top two candidates will be held on 7 May 2017. A victory for candidate Marine Le Pen would signal attempts to suppress the Regions which could destroy the limited regional power that Brittany currently has. Now a British General Election is to be held on June 8th, 2017.

Welsh lifeboat appeal gets massive boost after surprise donation from Irish actor

Brendan O’Carroll has pledged £10,000 to Rhyl Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI). The Irish actor and comedian announced he was starting a collection off with the donation at the end of the Good Morning Mrs Brown show at Rhyl Pavilion on Saturday night. Brendan O’Carroll is best known for playing Agnes Brown in the BBC comedy series Mrs Brown’s Boys. Brendan O’Carroll was asked to tell the audience after the show that a collection would be taking place for the Rhyl RNLI to help fund their new lifeboat.

Wales visit to Dublin and the land of his father will bring back fond memories for Welsh Manager Chris Coleman

The 2018 FIFA World Cup will be contested by the men's national teams of the member associations of FIFA (International Federation of Association Football). It is scheduled to take place in Russia from 14 June to 15 July 2018. The final tournament will involve 32 national teams, which include 31 teams determined through qualifying competitions and the automatically qualified host team, Russia.
