Allegations made in the Dail earlier today suggest that children between the ages of 14 – 17 were arrested in early morning raids by An Garda Síochána in the west Tallaght area of Dublin.

The arrests were related to anti-austerity protests in the area in November 2014.

The CPT has been asked by the Celtic League to look into the arrest of children by police in the West Tallaght area of Dublin over recent days. The arrests were in connection with anti-austerity protests in the area last November.

The high profile human rights lawyer Amal Clooney is to be part of a team of lawyers representing the ‘Hooded Men’ in a case before the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR).
The men, all arrested in 1971 in Ulster and interned without trial, were subjected to ill treatment by the British Army.
