The French PS (Parti socialiste) majority in the lower house of the French Parliament approved the second reading of the new territorial map of metropolitan France yesterday reducing the number of regions from 22 to 13. With astounding arrogance they ignored the wide scale demands by the people of Alsace to retain their historic and cultural identity. This was at the same time that they rejected calls for the reunification of Brittany. They have trampled over Alsace and it will be merged into a new eastern region, along with Champagne-Ardennes and Lorraine. 

The failure of l’Assemblée nationale in France to support the reunification of Brittany is a travesty. Despite the vote in the National Assembly it is clear that on every level the argument in favour of reunification was won. It could not be clearer that  Brittany reunified, representing 4.5 million people would increase its economic potential. In not supporting the reunification of Brittany an opportunity for potential growth, job creation and prosperity for the Breton people has been squandered.

Anne of Brittany (Breton: Anna Vreizh) was born on January 25th, 1477, in Nantes, Brittany and died on January 9th, 1514, in  Blois, France. Daughter of Duke Francis II (Breton: Frañsez II) of Brittany and Margaret of Foix, Anne succeeded to her father’s duchy on September 9th, 1488. As Duchess of Brittany and twice queen consort of France, who devoted her life to safeguarding the autonomy of Brittany.

EduBreizh is an association dedicated to the development of the Breton language on Internet. They are promoting an interesting Special Mooc Christmas EduBreizh Schedule: 01 December 2014 to 25 December 2014. It lasts for four weeks. Go to the EduBreizh website to find out more. Its never too late to learn a Celtic language and have fun at the same time! It sounds like EduBreizh have certainly set out to make it interesting and fun. Every week you go to 3 different modules with short videos.

Kentelioù an Noz is an organisation that offers adult classes in the Breton language as well as other activities linked to the culture of Brittany. They have announced a day of learning and revision for those interested in the Breton language. 

BZH New York is an organization of Bretons and friends of Brittany dedicated to promoting the culture, economy, tourism, and language of Brittany. Their Halloween Fest Noz is on Saturday, November 1st @ 7pm at Connolly's Times Square "Klub 45" (121 W 45th St. 3rd floor). There will be performances by ISTRELOG, and the Duo Hélias/Gérard

From 7pm to 2am, $20 Regular Admission, $10 for Members (and for people in costume), $5 for Children (ages 16 and under).

The funeral of Pierre Toulhoat takes place this afternoon. He died on October 13th at the age of 91. He was a master craftsman in ceramics, stained glass, fabric and metal. Born in Quimper (Breton: Kemper) in  Finistère (Breton: Penn-ar-Bed) his native Brittany and its legends inspired much of his work including that of the lost underwater City of Ys. It can also be seen in his beautifully made Celtic jewellery of triskels, knotwork, torques, Celtic-crosses and other intricate designs.

Bretagne Réunie invites its members, supporters, and all the Bretons to meet Thursday, October 16 at 14:00 at the shrine of Sainte-Anne d'Auray to remember the sacrifice of the Breton departments during the War of 1914 -1918, this ceremony to be held in the presence of Defense Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian.

A week to go until what promises to be the biggest demonstration in favour of the reunification of Brittany so far. Next Saturday in Nantes at 14.00 people from all over the nation of Brittany will hold a rally to demand that Nantes and Loire Atlantique are re-united within the ancient borders of this Breton land. 

From all across Europe, people living in small nations are looking up to Scotland and its referendum for Independence. In Brittany, the Breton Party wishes to organize an equivalent vote one day.
