HMIC PRESSED ON NUCLEAR COP MISCONDUCT ALLEGATIONS

The Celtic League has written to Her Majesty’s Chief Inspector of Constabulary (HMIC) asking about allegations of misconduct and impropriety aired in the media in 2013 concerning the Civil Nuclear Constabulary (CNC).

The CNC is an armed police force which guards nuclear installations including Sellafield and Nuclear power plants such as Heysham and Wylfa.

IRISH RECRUITMENT TO BRITISH ARMY HALVED

It has been revealed that recruitment of Irish nationals into the British Army has dropped by almost 50% over the past year. Seventy Irish citizens joined in 2012 as opposed to 123 the previous year.

BREAK WITH TRADITION AT THIS YEARS ILLIAM DHONE COMMEMORATION

There will be a break with tradition at the 2015 annual Illiam Dhone commemoration on 2nd January which will see three speakers address those attending Hango Hill ahead of the wreath laying ceremony in memory of Manx martyr William Christian (Illiam Dhone).

Poll shows Scottish believe stronger SNP is better for Scotland

Opinion Polls show a big rise in support for the Scottish National Party (SNP) while Labour plunges. An ICM poll for The Guardian newspaper suggested the Labour Party was in meltdown in Scotland ahead of next years UK General Election, while SNP support has more than doubled. Compared to the 2010 UK General Election the SNP's support has climbed from 20% to 43% (+23). Labour has gone down to 26% (-16), the Conservatives stand at 13% (-4) and Liberal Democrats 6% (-13).

Isle of Man: Traditionalists Undeterred by Poor Weather on St Stephen's Day

Undeterred by poor weather, many people gathered at various venues across the Island to perform Hunt the Wren, which still forms part of the St Stephen's Day (Boxing Day) celebrations on the Isle of Man.

Singers, musicians and dancers dusted down their wren poles and braved the rain to continue this long held Manx tradition and collect money for a number of local charities.

Lack of Welsh language service provided by Banks under investigation

As reported in Welsh newspaper the Daily Post:

'Bank customers are being asked to send in their complaints about a lack of Welsh services to the Language Commissioner.

Meri Huws said today that she will conduct a statutory review of Welsh language services offered by banks in Wales.

Under the Welsh Language (Wales) Measure 2011, she has the power to do anything she thinks appropriate to promote and facilitate the use of the Welsh language.

Spain's attitude to Catalonia is shameful

The Spanish government continues to show its undemocratic credentials to the world. A range of recent laws passed by Madrid has  banned many forms of public protest. Now the goose stepping Spanish state is threatening Catalonia's regional government in Barcelona with prosecution. This is because they had the audacity to demand their democratic right to decide on self determination. This Spanish government continues to act like a dictatorship and should be ashamed of itself.
