JUDGEMENT OF RELEASING SERVICE PERSONNEL TO MILITARY CUSTODY QUESTION

The Celtic League has questioned the wisdom of allowing military personnel, who are charged with alleged serious crimes before
Manx courts, to be bailed to military custody.

The League also questions the judgement of Manx courts which fail to assess flight risk, particularly in relation to service personnel of foreign nationality.

ANGER AT UNION FLAG ON DRIVING LICENCES PLAN

A decision to replace the EU symbol on United Kingdom driving licences with the Union Flag has provoked outrage in Scotland and Wales .

The changes which apply to England , Scotland and Wales only will according to English Prime Minister, David Cameron, provide road users with a symbolic ‘sign of their national identity’.

Cameron ruled out allowing National flags for Wales and Scotland on ‘cost grounds’.

There were some significant developments in the Celtic countries in 2014, all of which highlight the distance still to travel to secure the political, cultural, social and economic freedom they need for their survival and development as distinct communities. Below are some brief observations of the more notable developments in each of the six Celtic countries that strengthen the case for independence.

The Boston Celtic Music Fest Kicks Off the 2015 Celtic Festival Season with Fresh Haggis, Alba’s Edge and the Scottish Country Dance Society with a Full Line-Up of Entertainment

 The 2015 North American Celtic Festival season kicks off in January with an impressive calendar of events.  First out of the gate is the 12th Annual Boston Celtic Music Festival (BCMFest) held at venues in and around Cambridge’s Harvard Square January 9th through the 11th.  The BCMFest features a three day program starting with an “Urban Ceilidh” with Celtic social dancing from the Irish, Scottish and Cape Breton traditions.

Isle of Man: Sell Out Gig for Mec Lir at Noa Bake House

One of the newest Manx bands on the Isle of Man's traditional music scene, Mec Lir (named after a pre-Christian Celtic God) has rapidly developed a loyal following since the launch of their debut recording Not an EP late last year.

The band includes some well-known names from the Island music scene, who have now taken Manx music much further afield, broadening its horizons throughout the UK, Europe, the US and Australia.
