Members of the anti-nuclear group People Against Wylfa B (PAWB) used the fourth anniversary of the Fukushima nuclear disaster today to stage a protest on Anglesey against plans to site a new nuclear power station on the Island.

The demonstrators gathered at the Menai Bridge and staged an hour long protest aimed at passing motorists.

The Celtic League has written to the European Justice Commissioner, Věra Jourová, urging her to support concerns raised by the Celtic League over discrimination suffered by the Traveller community in the United Kingdom.

A recent letter to UK Communities Minister, Eric Pickles, was drawn to her attention (see CL News link below).

The outcome of a case before the, UK Supreme Court, involving the massacre of civilians by the British army in Malaya in the 1940s could have major implications for hundreds of unresolved killings during the Troubles and may leave them unresolved.

The Batang Kali massacre took place on 12th December 1948 when British troops killed 24 civilians at the village during the so called Malayan ‘Emergency’.

An Conradh Ceilteach (the Irish branch of the Celtic League) was extremely active in relation to campaigning in support of the recent attempt to pass through the Dail an amendment which would have enshrined Neutrality in the Irish Constitution.

Isle of Man: Manx Dance Group Celebrates 40th Anniversary

Local traditional dance group Bock Yuan Fannee recently celebrated its 40th anniversary at the Masonic Hall in Douglas, in conjunction with the Arrane son Mannin event when a local song was chosen for the forthcoming Pan Celtic Festival.

Organised by Fiona McArdle and compèred by one of the group's founding members, David Fisher, the celebration included a selection of Manx dances performed by current and past members of the group and a special 40th birthday cake, followed by a lively ceili with Tarroo Marroo; which included some original members of the dance group.

The Irish Language Betrayed by Dublin - Government Fails To Support Gaelic in European Union

The 1937 Constitution of Ireland (Bunreacht na  hÉireann) proclaims under Article 8.1 “The Irish Language as the national language is the first official language”. Irish Gaelic received full status in the EU in 2007 but since that time, with the connivance of the Irish government, derogation has been in place. Derogation has the effect of exempting the institutions of the EU from providing full translation of official documents into Irish and providing translation services for the Celtic tongue as is required for all other official EU languages.

Problems force shutdown of Wylfa nuclear power plant in Wales

Problems found during refuelling in Reactor 1 of Wylfa Nuclear Power Station (Welsh: Atomfa'r Wylfa) in Anglesey (Ynys Môn), North Wales has forced the plant to shut down. As reported today (10 March 2015) in the Welsh newspaper the Daily Post a Magnox spokeswoman said: "After preliminary investigations it is now expected that Reactor 1 will be offline for approximately four weeks.

Labour Party set to be driven out of Scotland as opinion polls show massive swing to SNP

The swing away from the Labour Party towards the SNP (Scottish National Party) ahead of the UK General Election on May 7th continues to gain momentum. The days when the Labour Party could arrogantly depend on votes from their old Scottish heartlands has gone. Deservedly so, because Scottish Labour has shown itself to be no more than minor branch of the London based Labour Party. They have proven themselves to have absolutely no loyalty whatsoever to Scotland.
