Irish Language Group Works to Create Celtic Language District in Dublin Suburb

Last month Transceltic reported that in a poll commissioned by The Gaelic League (Conradh na Gaelige) majorities throughout Ireland showed deep respect and support for the Irish language. The polling disclosed close to 90% supporting the provision of state services in Gaelic on demand.

The United Kingdom has been asked by the Council of Europe Committee of Ministers (CoMIN) to submit a plan to resolve a number of outstanding inquests into deaths during the Troubles.

The Committee considered the issue at its 1222nd meeting yesterday (12th March 2015).

Earlier this week Yn Conradh Ceilteach/the Celtic League Irish Branch wrote to Liadh Ní Riada MEP expressing their wholehearted support for staging a language strike in the European parliament in protest against what she called the discrimination against her mother tongue within EU institutions and the “dismantling” of Irish language services by the government in Dublin.
