There has been huge support from across France for the ‘official recognition’ of ‘regional’ languages.

72% of those polled say that they are “favourable” to the official recognition of ‘regional’ languages, according to the Ifop poll for Ouest France.

18% of respondents say they are “very favourable” to that recognition, while only 6% of them declare themselves “completely against”.

Mounting Pressure In Support of Welsh Medium Education - Coalition Demands "Make Welsh the Medium of Instruction"

A panel of educational experts added their voices to the growing chorus of ­­­­­Welsh language activists who have called for making Welsh a medium of instruction in primary and secondary schools in Wales. If this were to happen it would have huge consequences, not only for the future of the Welsh but for all the Celtic tongues. The announcement came at the recent opening of the Urdd Eisteddfod, the annual Welsh-language youth festival of literature, music and performing arts.

When the British Army were touting for reservists on the Isle of Man earlier this year in an interview with Manx Radios Head of News Marian Kenny (which was broadcast several times) reference was made by the Officer being interviewed to the ‘fun’ time that could be had in the military reserves.
