Europe's Oldest 3D Map from Bronze Age found in Brittany

A Bronze Age slab found in Brittany (Breton: Breizh) is thought to be Europe’s oldest 3D map. It is believed to date from the early bronze age between 2150BC and 1600BC. Researchers from the French National Institute for Preventive Archaeological Research (Inrap), Bournemouth University, the CNRS and the Université de Bretagne Occidentale (UBO – University of Western Brittany) examined the carved slab from Saint-Bélec (Leuhan, Finistère Department). The results of which have been published in the French journal Bulletin de la Société préhistorique française.

Standing Stone in Brittany that is said can predict the end of the world

Menhir Champ-Dolent is the largest menhir in Brittany (Breton: Breizh). Brittany is famous for its many megalithic sites. Where large pre-historic stones have been used to create a structure or monument, which can either be alone or in groups. The giant Menhir Champ-Dolent standing stone is a granite Neolithic monument located 2 kilometres (1 mile) south of Dol-de-Bretagne (Breton: Dol). Its height above ground is between 9.3 and 9.5 metres (about 31 feet). It has an estimated weight of around 100 tonnes.

Scotland Win Rugby Union 2021 Auld Alliance Trophy

Wales have deservedly won the 2021 Six Nations Championship rugby union competition this year. Helped on the way by Scotland's dramatic last minute win over France by 23-27 points in Paris. At the end of the game Scotland were presented with the Auld Alliance Trophy. This is a trophy in rugby union awarded to the winner of the annual Six Nations Championship match between France and Scotland.

Wales Crowned 2021 Guinness Six Nations Champions

Wales have won the 2021 Guinness Six Nations champions after fellow Celts Scotland beat France in the exciting final minutes of the final game of the Championship in Paris. There had been a chance that France could have won the title had they beaten Scotland by a winning margin of 21 points. This was not to be and Wales also played some part in the Scottish victory as Steve Tandy, a Welsh former rugby union player, is the defence coach for Scottish rugby.

Cornwall is set to strengthen its relationship with Brittany

Cornwall is set to strengthen its relationship with Brittany on important areas such as trade, fishing and agriculture in a bid to work together in a post-Brexit world to benefit residents and businesses.

On March 24 Cornwall Council’s leader, Julian German, signed what is known as a Memorandum of Understanding with the President of Brittany, Loïg Chesnais-Girard.

The agreement between Cornwall Council and Brittany Council is important as it will help to build strong relations with a neighbouring European region at a time of a changing relationship with the EU.
