Labour Party success in Wales linked to establishing distinctive Welsh identity

Labour retained control of the Welsh parliament with the Party matching a previous election record by capturing 30 of the 60 seats in Senedd Cymru (Welsh Parliament). This is in stark contrast to the disastrous performance of Labour in England and continued decline in Scotland. Many have pointed out that the nations within Britain have developed very different voting patterns. This reflects genuine differences between them and the need for different economic and political  development.

We are pleased, then, in Thursday's election that not only did Mebyon Kernow retain the four seats they had before the total number of seats available was reduced from 123 to 87, but they even increased the seats they held by one.

Isle of Man an Island under environmental and social threat

There is no doubt that the Isle of Man (Manx: Mannin) is a beautiful place. A Celtic Island in the middle of the Irish Sea with a rich culture and heritage.  However, it is an Island under threat from within in the form of greed motivated interest groups and poor government decisions. Not least of which is the allowing of inappropriate building developments and plans to allow unfettered increases in population growth. So at the moment the Isle of Man government are putting out plans for so-called "consultation"  on an area plan for the north and west of the Island.
