There has been huge support from across France for the ‘official recognition’ of ‘regional’ languages.

72% of those polled say that they are “favourable” to the official recognition of ‘regional’ languages, according to the Ifop poll for Ouest France.

18% of respondents say they are “very favourable” to that recognition, while only 6% of them declare themselves “completely against”.

The Irish Postal Service, An Post, has unveiled a new 68c stamp to celebrate the 150 anniversary of the birth of W.B. Yeats.

Yeats was undoubtedly a world class literary giant and one of the foremost writers and poets of the 20th Century. In 1923 he was awarded the Nobel Prize for literature.

The launch of the new stamp, which was accompanied by a first day cover with lines from one of his poems, took place in Sligo.
