Three resolutions moved by Cornish delegates at last weekends Dublin AGM spanned the Brythonic Celtic countries.

There was hostility to the insidious influence of the Duke of Cornwall in Cornish affairs and solid expressions of solidarity with Wales and Brittany.

The three motions which all received unanimous support are set out below:

The recent Scottish referendum was the focus of considerable debate at the AGM of the Celtic League held in Dublin at the weekend (10-12th April 2015).

A number of League members had travelled to Scotland during the referendum run up to help with campaigning.

The anachronism of the old colonial powers such as Britain and France still maintaining overseas territories and dependencies at a time when most countries have achieved full self determination was the subject of a resolution from the Manx branch of the Celtic League at the Dublin AGM.

Manx Branch Secretary, Roy Kennaugh, on behalf of the branch moved the following resolution which was enthusiastically and unanimously supported by all present:

The British-Irish Council came under scrutiny at the AGM of the Celtic League held in Dublin at the weekend (10-12th April 2015).

The structure of the BI Council which includes England and the Channel Isles (and excludes Brittany ) is fundamentally at odds with the type of co-operative grouping of Celtic States which the League espouses.

After some discussion the following resolution which restates our earlier position was adopted:

As the Celtic League met to condemn Military Pact what appears to be unilateral counter-insurgency exercise is conducted by British Army in border area

It was hardly the ‘brave new dawn’ in British-Irish military relations that UK and Irish Defence Minister Michael Fallon MP and Simon Coveney TD may have anticipated when, all smiles, they signed the infamous British-Irish Military Pact in January this years.

Man: Row Deepens Over Contaminated Silt Dump

The row over a decision to move thousands of tonnes of contaminated silt from a Marina on the west of the Isle of Man has deepened with concerns that the transit of the material to an onshore site 3 miles inland is causing contamination along the haul route.

The material concerned is heavily contaminated by heavy metal pollution (Lead, Copper, Zinc and Cadmium) which runs into the estuary where the Marina in sited from old mine workings.

It is becoming increasing obvious that the BBC is actively discriminating against Cornwall based organisations and political parties in the run up to the General Election for the Westminster Parliament.

The BBC’s Charter dated 19 September 2006 assured that it would be ‘Representing the UK, its nations, regions and communities’ and the Kernow Branch now believes the Corporation to be in blatant breach of that Charter.

Côr Dre Celebrate "Best Choir of the Festival" For Wales at 2015 Pan-Celtic Festival

Côr Dre have been crowned "Best Choir of the Festival" at the 2015 Pan-Celtic Festival held in the city of Derry in the north of Ireland last week.  The young Welsh mixed choir joined with choirs from all of the six Celtic nations of Brittany (Breizh), Cornwall (Kernow), Ireland (Éire), Isle of Man (Mannin), Scotland (Alba) and Wales (Cymru) and went on to secure the title.

Kernow: Concerns About Cuts Impact on Emergency Services

The Kernow Branch of the Celtic League has recently written to the Chief Constable of the Devon & Cornwall Police which is responsible for policing in the Duchy to congratulate the service on its use of the Cornish language at some police stations. Further, the Branch has publicly expressed concerns that financial cutbacks by the Westminster Coalition Government is causing irreparable harm to public services in Kernow.
