The IMO responded to our query about working conditions and standards for seafarers in terms ‘most diplomatic’.

We had written to the body earlier this month (see link) and whilst recognising that the ILO has primacy in this area we queried if the issue of such standards did not have a wider implication for safety at sea (which is under the purview of the IMO).

The BBC in Cornwall is reporting that the Ministry of Defence will attend the inquest that the Coroner for Cornwall is undertaking into the loss of the Breton trawler Bugaled Breizh.

This is an important development and one the relatives had been hoping for.

Isle of Man: Peel Hosts a Successful Yn Chruinnaght Inter-Celtic Festival

The annual Inter-Celtic festival, Yn Chruinnaght, brought colour and vibrancy to Peel during five days of music, song and dance, as visiting groups and artistes joined with local performers to provide entertainment at various venues throughout the town.

It was a great location for a varied programme, which was largely focused around the hub of the fishing port, kicking off with a concert in St German's Cathedral before heading down to a popular gig at The Creek.
