Port Soderick Glen (Glion Phurt Soderick) is situated 4 miles south of Douglas (Manx: Doolish) off the coast road to Santon. The glen covers about 15 acres with the Crogga River running through it. During the springtime bluebells cover its northern banks with the southern side noted for Blughtyn or marsh marigolds. A nuber of other species of Manx wildflowers also grow in glen. Access is by car (the glen has ample parking), but it can also be reached by bus and steam train. It has a large central grass paddock area suitable for picnics and is adjacent to Port Soderick beach and caves.
Our Visit
We parked towards the top of the glen which is where the steam train stops. It was a crisp Autumn day with only the occasional dog walker about. We followed the path down this pretty glen to the bay. The water was a lovely deep blue.
