Glasnevin Cemetery - Reilig Ghlas Naíon

Glasnevin Cemetery (Irish: Reilig Ghlas Naíon) in Dublin (Irish: Baile Átha Cliath) is also known as Prospect Cemetery and is non-denominational with some 1.5 million burials. Opened in 1832 the Cemetery is also the resting place for a number of notable Irish Patriots. Amongst the graves are those of:

• Charles Stewart Parnell (27 June 1846 - 6 October 1891), Irish Nationalist political leader.
• Arthur Griffith (31 March 1872 – 12 August 1922), founder of Sinn Féin. 
• Michael Collins (16 October 1890 – 22 August 1922), Irish revolutionary leader.
• Eamon DeValera (14 October 1882 – 29 August 1975), Irish revolutionary leader and President of the Republic. 
• Kevin Gerard Barry (20 January 1902 – 1 November 1920), a young IRA activist who was tortured and executed by the British. His remains were moved from Mountjoy Prison (the site of his execution) on 14 October 2001, re-interred in Glasnevin Cemetery and given a state funeral along with nine other volunteers from the War of Independence.

Glasnevin Cemetery is north of Dublin City Centre off Finglas Road (N2) Dublin 11. It is open daily and has a museum and guided tours.
