The visit by the current two political bete-noires of the Isle of Man Margaret Hodge and Andrew Mitchell MPs is reported widely.
MTTV have an interview interspersed with comment describing the pair as ‘two very important people’, Christ I thought it was me who should get out more - obviously it’s Moulton!
I’m not so much exercised by their distaste for offshore centres as for the pair themselves. After all many of us in the nationalist movement were shouting to the rooftops about regulation decades ago when the likes of Messrs Hodge and Mitchell were climbing the greasy pole of UK politics.
There are the usual online criticisms of Quayle on social media but for once I won’t join them. His interview with MTTV went flawlessly particularly when compared to Hodges evasion and Mitchell cursory replies the latter verging on the arrogant.
However what an opportunity lost to the local media! Why didn’t they ask Hodge if she really did close down that child abuse scandal at Islington Council in the late eighties. As for Mitchell they could have asked if as reported he thinks Policemen on the gates of Downing Street are ‘f--king plebs’ what does he think of the Manx.
These obviously are not nice people and despite their ‘magical mystery tour’ of the Isle of Man they are not finished yet - that mch was clear.
At some point the media here needs to put the gloves on and start portraying Westminster narcissists as they really are.
(You’ll find the story on MTTV - I’m not posting a link!)
