Congratulations to Wales who warmed Celtic hearts yesterday with a stunning victory against England in the Rugby World Cup group stages. Achieving a great win on foreign soil (the game was played in London, the English capital), Wales overcame a 10-point deficit and a series of injuries to pull off a sensational win against England in a tense and gripping World Cup contest.

The annual Isle of Man Food and Drink Festival has grown in recent years to become one of the most popular events on the Island's calendar, drawing inspiration from various local producers who continue to support this annual festival.

The Gaelic League (Conradh na Gaeilge) is the main voluntary community organisation that promotes the Irish language in Ireland and abroad. The League’s primary objective is the reinstatement of the Irish language as the common tongue of Ireland.  Since its founding in 1893, members have been actively promoting Irish in every aspect of life in Ireland, from legal and educational affairs to the development of media and services through Irish.  Members of the Gaelic League are in the forefront of campaigns to strengthen the rights of the Irish speaking community.

Whale Vomit Found On Welsh Beach Sells for £11,000

A man walking his dog on a Welsh beach made a very valuable find. It was piece of the whale vomit known as 'ambergris'. It is formed in a sperm whale’s digestive system and is passed as vomit. Scientists believe it is used to coat irritating objects in the whale’s intestines. The dog walker found the item on a beach in Anglesey (Welsh: Ynys Môn), which is an island off the north-west coast of Wales (Cymru). Yesterday the 2.4lb (1.1kg) chunk of ambergris was sold at auction for £11,000.

Wales: Call For Separate Welsh News At Six

In a call that has echoes of the ‘Scottish Six’ campaign Plaid Cymru has called for separate evening primetime news to be produced in Wales, for Wales, in order to lead a new direction in indigenous Welsh media.

It is suggested that such a move would stimulate a new indigenous Welsh media and it is further suggested that running the primetime news programmes from Wales would tackle the London-centric nature of the news, and set the bar for public service broadcasting.

Northern Ireland DUP leader and First Minister, Peter Robinson (picture), has hit back robustly after allegations made earlier today about the mystery £7.5 million NAMA related deposit in an offshore bank account in the Isle of Man.

A witness at today’s Stormont Finance Committee which is enquiring into the matter had alleged some of the funds were for Mr Robinson, however Mr Robinson has described the assertions, by Jamie Bryson, as ‘scurrilous’ issuing an unequivocal rebuttal.

A breaking news report in the Belfast Telegraph has Loyalist blogger Jamie Bryson (picture) alleging that a number of people including DUP leader Peter Robinson were to benefit from £7.5 million deposited in the Isle of Man as part of the NAMA deal to sell a portfolio of properties in the North of Ireland. Bryson has appeared in front of the Stormont finance committee taking evidence about the event (see link):

Canada: Second Largest Union Slams Tax Evasion Revelations

The National Union of Public and General Employees which is the second largest Trade Union in Canada has expressed its concern over the use of the Isle of Man and other tax havens by wealthy Canadian citizens wanting to evade tax.

The NUPGE National President, James Clancy said last week following allegations about KPMG Canada:

“The reason KPMG is promoting privatization is the same reason it's helping wealthy individuals use tax havens: tax havens increase its profits at the public’s expense.”
