News From The Celic League
Northern Ireland DUP leader and First Minister, Peter Robinson (picture), has hit back robustly after allegations made earlier today about the mystery £7.5 million NAMA related deposit in an offshore bank account in the Isle of Man.
A witness at today’s Stormont Finance Committee which is enquiring into the matter had alleged some of the funds were for Mr Robinson, however Mr Robinson has described the assertions, by Jamie Bryson, as ‘scurrilous’ issuing an unequivocal rebuttal.
In a statement the DUP leader says:
"I repeat, I neither received, expected to receive, sought, nor was I offered a single penny as a result of the Nama sale.
"The allegations made today lack credibility and can have no evidential basis. The scripted performance was little short of pantomime. It is outrageous that such scurrilous and unfounded allegations can be made without providing one iota of evidence.”
He also said he was happy to appear before the committee.
The Deputy First Minister, Martin McGuinness, also appeared at the Committee today and rejected any link to either the deal involving the sale of the NAMA portfolio in the North or the mystery offshore monies.
