Avoiding the sun with some 'light' reading!

I’ve been enjoying myself keeping out of the sun by doing the nearest equivalent to watching paint dry reading the first and second quarter reports of the UK Office for Nuclear Regulation on various plants around the Irish Sea,

I generally confine myself to Heysham. Wylfa, Sellafield with a cursory glance at Chapelcross which is effectively a dead site (hope the pun is not apposite)! However I suppose the entire UK nuclear complex poses a threat.

There is also the regular Hakon Hakkonsson Lecture at the Vallhalladarome at the Vikingar.

Les Nains - Protecteurs des anciens monuments Celtiques de Bretagne

Dolmen in Brittany

'Measles rises - vaccinate your kids'

Vaccination and its merits are in the news in the Isle of Man however the debate is wide ranging and James O’Toole of the Irish alternative site RED HERRING produced this video which was posted on the site last week.

He makes a reasoned argument why vaccination was, is and will be an advantage to the health of children and how a decision not to vaccinate is not just personal to you and your family but can impact others

Foodbank HQ rent £16000

IOM Newspapers reports that the Isle of Man Foodbank is having to pay £16000 per annum for its HQ. I was leaked this story several weeks ago but chose not to use it as the Foodbank were in the midst of a major drive to raise stock donations for the important summer holiday period when with schools closed the feeding of children puts a pressure on stretched families

Rightly or wrongly I thought that the fact so much is needed for overheads might deter folk from donating.

The mainstream media - its part of the problem not the solution

The Mainstream Media is part of the problem not the solution. They are after all synonymous with the Chamber of Commerce indeed several MSM boast of their links..

The faithfully dispense often in an unquestioning manner the diet of deception, half truths and sometimes outright lies that the government machine peddles.

They portray business folk or politicians who are the architects of misery for many in a favourable light. They are like Lamprey fish clinging on to the bloated carcass of the Chamber and its acolytes.

Alex Salmond resigns from SNP

Alex Salmond has resigned from the SNP and launched a campaign to seek funding for a Judicial Review of the procedures used against him. Report here at the main Indy social media site Wings Over Scotland:

https://wingsoverscotland.com/alex-salmond-resigns-from-snp/

Wings also report that the very people who have been calling for Salmond to resign now seem incensed that he has done so. Irrational and inaccurate comment is flying thick and past:

If the Mainstream did its job maybe....

Paul Moulton of MTTV has an item here with Julie Edge MHK going on about the perils and pitfalls not the mention the nastiness of social media. Leaving aside Julie’s experience, which she obviously feels strongly about, lets not forget that it's in the interest of the main stream media to paint social media in a bad light:

'Breathes there the man' etc

‘BREATHES THERE THE MAN’ ETC

‘Are the Chamber patriots or d they just love money?’

Good to see the President is at work as with the exception of CM Howard Quayle MHK, suitably kitted out in summer ‘strides’, all the rest of the political class seem to be absent at present:

Time RAF murderers stopped using our air space

I don’t watch UK news much these days but was glad I tuned into Channel 4 News last night to watch Michael Crick slaughter Theresa May over her visit to Nelson Mandela’s cell on Robben Island:
