Willie Rennie (you may not be aware who he is because even voters in Scotland gave him such a small poll rating recently it was almost invisible) promised when elected leader of Scotland’s Liberal Democratic Party (Lib Dems) after its crushing defeat in the 2011 Holyrood elections to:

“rediscover the party’s ‘soul’ and rebuild trust with voters”

However, the only thing that Willie needs to ‘rediscover’ at the moment is a backbone.

Call for submissions - Carn magazine

Carn magazine is the journal of the Celtic League and a call for articles and accompanying photographs is now made for possible inclusion in Carn number 162.

The name 'Carn', a Celtic word, was chosen for its symbolic value and because it can be found in each of the living Celtic languages and the publication has been in existence since 1973 with the ISSN number 0257-7860

Submission are particularly welcomed in the Celtic languages with an English language summary.

A number of members and CL News followers from Mann have been venting their frustration of late over some of the reaction to Mec Vannin’s AGM resolutions.

Comments range from the fact that some resolutions have been totally ignored to the fact that others, such as those on the Lt. Governor, renaming the Police so it projects a Manx identity, and the Military, have been given what many believe is media coverage which lacked balance.

Last week we described what we saw as ‘extremely positive and welcome’ news in relation to the spate of burglaries that have bedevilled the Isle of Man since January.

The Home Affairs Minister had said in correspondence to the League:

“With regard to the spate of recent burglaries, I am pleased to report that significant progress has been made in this area and it is likely that we have successfully disrupted these burglars.”
