IOM Newspapers reports that the Isle of Man Foodbank is having to pay £16000 per annum for its HQ. I was leaked this story several weeks ago but chose not to use it as the Foodbank were in the midst of a major drive to raise stock donations for the important summer holiday period when with schools closed the feeding of children puts a pressure on stretched families

Rightly or wrongly I thought that the fact so much is needed for overheads might deter folk from donating.

The Mainstream Media is part of the problem not the solution. They are after all synonymous with the Chamber of Commerce indeed several MSM boast of their links..

The faithfully dispense often in an unquestioning manner the diet of deception, half truths and sometimes outright lies that the government machine peddles.

They portray business folk or politicians who are the architects of misery for many in a favourable light. They are like Lamprey fish clinging on to the bloated carcass of the Chamber and its acolytes.

Alex Salmond has resigned from the SNP and launched a campaign to seek funding for a Judicial Review of the procedures used against him. Report here at the main Indy social media site Wings Over Scotland:

Wings also report that the very people who have been calling for Salmond to resign now seem incensed that he has done so. Irrational and inaccurate comment is flying thick and past:

Paul Moulton of MTTV has an item here with Julie Edge MHK going on about the perils and pitfalls not the mention the nastiness of social media. Leaving aside Julie’s experience, which she obviously feels strongly about, lets not forget that it's in the interest of the main stream media to paint social media in a bad light:

Manx Chief Minister Howard Quayle MHK is in reassuring mood about Brexit. Alex Allinson MHK is praying for rain meanwhile Howard is saving up for a rainy day. Apparently we are putting a few bob aside in case things go (to use the vernacular) ‘tits up’!

The Manx media is banal at present. I’ve banged the chops in (Manx lamb of course) and have an hour to fill so go in search of news but there is none. Manx Radio is full of something called the Festival of Motoring which consists of sheep looking at empty roads. I ponder that Tim Glover is probably doing the equivalent of Gene Hackman's ‘cold turkey’ in the French Connection and screaming: ‘Get PAG, Travelwatch….anything’.

Its doom and gloom time at IOM Today with the paper predicting a hyper-ageing population for the Isle of Man on the basis of UN reports. I have this mental age of hordes of people on zimmer frames collecting plastic on the beaches and getting bogged down in the sand. What will happen to the world's ocean when the Beach Buddies demographic age wise becomes critical.
