On 6th May, 2021 and as a result of receiving the votes of 15.2% of Cornwall's electorate, a Conservative party administration was installed at Cornwall Council.
Noting that the Conservative Westminster Government has breached the requirements placed on it to properly fund the Cornish language and passed responsibility for funding to Cornwall Council, there are now rumours that the Conservative controlled Council will cut language funding after the current round.
Understanding that we are now faced with an English nationalist political party which is inward rather than outward looking, the 'Kernow Matters To Us' campaign group has written to a number of Cornwall Councillors in the following terms:
Kernow
12 Mis Me 2021
Dear Councillors
Cornish Language Funding

It has already been noted that the new leader of Cornwall Council has been in the mainstream media to announce the closure of Cornwall's office in Brussels in return for a saving of £50,000 and that Cornwall should look more to Westminster than to Europe. In making this announcement, the woman was extremely critical of the preceding administration and it is obvious that we will be dealing with representatives of a party known for its bigotry rather than representatives of an electorate.
Moving on, we understand that funding for the Cornish language is secure for 12 months. However, there are already rumours about that the new administration has a cut to funding for the language if not a full suspension of funds.
The Westminster Government has already passed on financial responsibility for the language to Cornwall Council in breach of the Charter referenced at 'A'.
Please would you be in a position to update us regarding any information which may be available regarding future funding arrangements for the language if any?
We look forward to your replies.
Yours faithfully
