Jeez! Aren’t the Isle of Man and Ireland lucky we both have Chief Ministers who are ‘cool’ and in touch with the people.
Manx Chief Minister Howard Quayle MHK often avers in his regular soirees with Paul Moulton at MTTV how in touch with the common man, ‘the hoi polloi’, that’s us, he is. Howard makes it sound as if you could drop into the Cabinet Office and have a coffee with him anytime - just try!
In Ireland of course it's different An Taoiseach Leo Varadkar has a much bigger domain so he has to embrace the latest technology. After all Kildare Street would get pretty crowded if everyone dropped in to Leo’s office. So Leo is at it from dawn until dusk sending out helpful tweets and keeping in touch and posing for the cameras with that affecting ‘cheesy’ smile.
A long way away from Leo’s political ivory tower in the West of Galway a group of villagers are fighting to ensure their post office stays open they’ve a petition going on Change.org. I don’t know if they’ll be successful I hope the are. Perhaps a tweet or two of support from Leo might energise the campaign. However that's unlikely as although Leo is ‘cool’ and on twitter he closes post offices! Let old people ride on the bus to the next village. What does Leo care he’s got a limo - in fact several!
