NEWS FROM THE CELTIC LEAGUE
Kernow Branch: replies being received following report submission ‘County, Duchy, Nation or Country?’
Following the submission of a lengthy and authoritative report prepared by Craig Weatherhill, Bard of the Cornish Gorsedh, archaeologist, historian and writer of long standing and member of the Cornwall Branch of the Celtic League which was sent to many European and International organisations including the Council of Europe, the International Organisation for Standardisation, various agencies of the United Nations, the Unrepresented Nations and Peoples Organization and many others calling for support for Cornwall following generations of misgovernment by Westminster and the Duchy of Cornwall, replies are being received by the Kernow Branch.
In addition to an acknowledgement of receipt and promise of further response from the United Nations, a letter has been received from the Council of Europe.
The letter is as follows:
“Secretary General
Council of Europe
Directorate General II: Democracy, Human Dignity and Equality,
Anti Discrimination and Social Cohesion Department
Strasbourg
21 May 2015
Dear Convener
Thank you for your letter and very comprehensive report prepared by Mr. Craig Weatherhill outlining the situation in Cornwall.
The United Kingdom’s State report about the implementation of the Framework Convention in respect of the Cornish national minority has been submitted to the Secretary General on 23 March, 2015 and it will be examined by the Council of Europe Advisory Committee in due course.
You can consult with this at: http://www.coe.int/en/web/minorities/country-specific-monitoring#UnitedK...
The information you have sent us as an NGO with roster consultative status to ECOSOC (The United Nations Economic and Social Council) is welcomed and has now been entered with other submissions received regarding the situation in Cornwall and has been transmitted to the Advisory Committee on the Framework Convention which will take your very important observations into account.
We value this input by the Celtic League and welcome further contact and information from your organisation.
Yours sincerely
Maria LLido
Head of Unit.”
