Manx Care Workers under pressure

Credit where it's due! An excellent fact rich report her from Manx Radio on stress levels in the Isle of Man Health Service.

The figures show an alarming increase and one wonders why the issue has not been tackled.

In my days as a Trade Union official and Secretary of Isle of Man Whitley Council Employees Side we worked with Employers and Employees using capability procedures in areas where high levels of absence were apparent. We also jointly promoted the benefits of the Staff Welfare Service. The two pronged approach brought considerable success it was staff friendly and not draconian.

Strikes me Chris Thomas MHK who heads up the main current staff forum for workers and employees in the public sector has a few questions to answer. Additionally if this is the picture at Health Services what about elsewhere?
