News from the 'Yes Kernow' Team
Cornish Patriots from the 'Yes Kernow' Team were in position at the very busy Chiverton Cross roundabout for a second day of the G7 Summit. Thousands of passing motorists, local haulage companies, agricultural tractors, ambulances and motor bikes sounded their horns (and sirens) and waved. The group were highly visible to the numerous VIP convoys seen departing and heading eastwards under escort and at speed. Today they were joined by journalists and interviewers who wanted to find out more about what the group stood for. Each were handed a leaflet and briefed on just how Cornwall could do better for itself freed from the shackles of Westminster. When asked about party affiliation, the BBC interviewer was surprised to find out that those present were from all political backgrounds and none but shared a common love of Cornwall.
Quite simply, more decisions about Cornwall need to be made in Cornwall and as a people we are mature enough to do this. The Team were visited by police officers from Devon & Cornwall Police and the City of London Police who took 'selfies' holding St Piran Flags and found out more from members about Cornwall's unique heritage and history. The police officers were then serenaded with renditions of 'Trelawny' and 'Lamorna' as several of the group are singers and musicians, as well as local councillors, business people, retired, landscape gardeners, fishermen and so on, including some with disabilities. Officers were offered fresh water as the team had arrived equipped with a supply of spring water, a first aid kit and even chairs! This was truly a demonstration of patriotism, Cornish style! Members ended with a litter pick of the area and took away a bin bag of rubbish discarded from passing vehicles and McDonalds & Starbucks cups. 'Yes Kernow' assure that there will be other appearances during this year and they are committed to peaceful change whilst working in close liaison 'all under one banner' as is seen in Scotland, Wales, Brittany and elsewhere.
At the end of the long weekend, one of the co-ordinators, retired accountant Tony, said, "This has been a hugely successful first outing for the Yes Kernow Team and we have been watching and learning from those in the other Celtic Nations of Scotland, Wales and Brittany to whom we send our thanks for the examples and advice sent.
Bearing in mind this was the G7 Summit, we set out not to clash with the authorities but to work with them to ensure that we could safely demonstrate our beliefs for a different Cornwall and spectacularly, we achieved huge successes by choosing what was probably the busiest roundabout in Cornwall. This was carefully arranged with three recce visits and as an extra bonus, our display was seen by departing diplomats as well.
Thousands of motorists saw our message over this two day period and waved and sounded their horns and the visiting police stood in disbelief as we sang the Cornish anthem 'Trelawny' and called out other Cornish slogans and joined us for 'selfies'.
This is going to be the first of many, rest assured and we welcome so many new faces to the cause.
Together and if I may borrow the term 'All Under One Banner', we can make a difference and will be cooperating fully with AUOB as their programme reveals itself later this year.
Too small, too poor and so on simply no longer applies to our beloved Kernow and we seek to grow Cornish self confidence and pride." News from the 'I Rake a Cornish Beach' (IRACB) Team
The IRACB team have reported huge success in conveying a message regarding the dangers to Cornwall posed by rising sea levels and damage to the environment.
Team members took to the beaches of Cornwall and using rakes, left temporary messages in the sand which washed away as surely as Cornwall will unless action is taken now.
Event organiser, Stuart, a retired head teacher said. "This idea really took off and has involved the support of many people who love Cornwall and who wanted to draw the environment dangers it faces to the attention of as many as possible. Our Facebook page stands as a record of what was achieved and just how what is happening to Cornwall is causing huge concern."

And we end by publishing a message made by two children who believe in a better future for Cornwall
And these children and their message was subject of photography by many overseas photographers as increasing numbers are concerned by out of control and unaffordable building which is highly speculative and exclusionary which together with over tourism and other abuse of the environment is destroying the very home we love......
