I never really saw Howard in a 'Command and Control' role!

Choices, choices! I’m trying to work out what to do on The International Day of Older Persons (UNIDOP) tomorrow and decide it should be something special. I’ve given up on the idea that Alf Cannan MHK will come up with some big gesture like announcing that in future his income tax buddies will take their foot of old peoples necks and stop terrifying them. Especially as happened last year when I went a couple of days over the deadline to pay up and was told ‘I could be charged interest’. They didn’t as it happened but they probably get their kicks out of teasing the elderly especially those like me with slight memory loss.

I could have popped in to see CM Howard Quayle MHK and asked for a reply to my letter about what the government intend to do to help struggling Manx families. However Chris Thomas MHK said last week he had been delegated to answer that. It must be great for Howard being Chief Minister and delegating things. I never really saw Howard in a ‘Command and Control’ role but there you go. He should delegate someone to answer Trevor Cowins letter perhaps.

I was hoping for a swift response but knowing Chris he will want to go into detail cross the i’s and dot the t’s etc. It was nice to chat with Chris he is quite affable even though I say some unkind things about him occasionally. He seems to be able to separate politics from social discourse which is no bad thing. I can’t really see Alf Cannan in that mold. Alf always sounds so angry these days - even Manx Radio news editor Tim Glover has taken to smiling nervously at him when he’s interviewing him in ‘the Portal’.

I muse I wonder will Manx Radio have anything planned for ‘The International Day of Older Persons’ probably not or we would have heard about it, After all it's a bit pointless having something on which the ‘old people’ like me miss because we haven't’ heard about it. I’m wondering now about a media ‘Older Person’ Terry Cringle - haven’t seen or heard from Terry for a while I hope he’s doing alright.

UNIDOP is becoming a problem I want to do something SPECIAL but what? Perhaps I’ll have a day off from carping about government and the Chamber and just have a ramble..er the exercise type!
