Cronk Karran is a Neolithical stone circle which is either a burial circle or hut circle. In the far south of the Island near the village of Cregneash.
It is important to take care when visiting this site. It is in an area known as The Chasms. Deep fissures in the heather and grass covered rock near the site can be dangerous. It is important to stick to the well worn paths made by other visitors. I went there on a clear sunny February day. The circle is clearly visible from the coastal footpath above and you can follow tracks down to the circle. The views are stunning. I decided to follow the coastal path from Port St Mary. After stopping at the circle I carried on along the coastal path eventually reaching the cafe at the Sound. There are excellent views across to the Calf of Man from the cafe. An excellent site to visit with beautiful cliff views.
