Donegal Castle - Caisleán Dhún na nGall is a fifteenth century castle and traditionally home of the O'Donnells whose leaders left Ireland in 1607 during the Flight of the Earls. The O'Donnell's , Lords of Tír Conaill were one of the most powerful Gaelic families in Ireland from the 5th to the 16th centuries. The castle had substantial additions in the seventeenth century. It is in the centre of Donegal now open to the public. It is located in the centre of the town of Donegal/Dún na nGall.
