BRITTANY : LANGUAGE PROTESTS CONTINUE

On Saturday 4 July 2015, Ai‘Ta, a group whose primary objective is to defend and promote the Breton language, targeted what the media call France ’s favourite village.

A small but vocal and enthusiastic group of Ai‘Ta members gathered in front of the town hall at Perroz/Perroz-Guirec to highlight the total lack of respect of the municipality towards the Breton language.

BRETON REUNIFICATION PROTEST ATTRACTS SUPPORT

At the start of the summer holiday the BREIZH UNVAN / BRETAGNE RÉUNIE organisations organised protesters to peacefullygather under the hot July sun on a bridge over the N165 motorway at Kerpont, near Lorient waving flags and displaying banners calling for Breton reunification.

The operation has been quite a success since it was observed by more than 10,000 cars an hour during peak holiday periods!

There’s now a further Manx link to the NAMA allegations Dail deputy Mick Wallace made last week.

Readers of CL News will recall that Wallace alleged that a substantial amount of money £7 million pounds had been diverted to an offshore account in the Isle of Man. It was the contention of Wallace that these monies were intended for an, as yet, unidentified politician in the North of Ireland.

HMI Spotlight on Dungavel

The Dungavel immigration removal centre (IRC) in Lanarkshire is the subject of a recent inspection by HM Chief Inspector Prisons.

The HMI make a number of recommendations for improvements to the way the centre is currently operated.

Dungavel was the focus of concern some years ago because of the detention of young children there a practice the UK border agency say has now ended. However the report points to difficulties over determining the age of some detained and recommends improvements.

Brittany has become the newest member of the Unrepresented Nations and Peoples Organization, after UNPO’s 12th General Assembly, which took place in Brussels on Wednesday 1st to Friday 3rd July, 2015

The Breton delegates expressed their delight at this important step in their quest for recognition, after centuries of repression of their culture by the French state.

ANOTHER FILE ON CR GAS FOUND BUT ONE STILL CLOSED

In December of 2014 we wrote to the British Government seeking information held by the British Government on ‘Operation Pagoda’ which was a code name given to the use of CR Gas in Northern Ireland.
