Fukushima Nuclear Cover-Up: Well Nothing Has Changed In 60 Years!

News from Mannin Branch of the Celtic League:

Only weeks after the Fukushima disaster in Japan the British nuclear industry said it had learned lessons.

Well we learned something new this week and that was that the operators of the stricken Japanese plant were less than frank about the nature of the disaster and this week they had to apologise for the ‘cover-up’ (see link):

News From The Irish Branch Of The Celtic League:

Local residents in Frongoch (near Y Bala, North Wales) organised a series of events on the weekend of June 10th and 11th 2016 to commemorate the Frongoch Internment camp and the 1,800 Irish men who were interned there after the Easter Rising in 1916. As the organisers stated:

Irish Football Fans Win Friends In Euros 2016

The football fans of the Republic of Ireland continue to win friends in France as the 2016 UEFA European Championship (the international men's football championship of Europe) continues. The Championship started on 10 June and ends on 10 July 2016. Irish fans have been heavily praised by locals for their impeccable behaviour in the French capital this week. Pictures of Irish fans changing a tyre for an elderly couple in France spread around social media sites.

Mannin Branch of Celtic League Speak Out Against Inequality

News fro the Celtic League:

Speaking Out – ‘You Are Going To Hear a Lot More Of It So Get Used To It’!

“Quite frankly it is shameful that on an Island that has enjoyed alleged growth better than most other first world countries obscene wealth coexists with extreme poverty.”

I did something unusual today I listened to Sunday Opinion and the Mannin Line back to back. I usually can’t take the bilge that Manx Radio spews out but today the subject matter of the two programmes I thought was really important.

KPMG Tax Dodge - We Say 'Keep Up The Good Work CBC'

News from Mannin Branch of the Celtic League:

Doesn’t time fly? It seems like only yesterday that Canadian Broadcaster CBC interviewed the Speaker of the House of Keys Steve Rodan SHK about tax transparency and of course Steve waxed lyrical (see link):

http://www.cbc.ca/…/kpmg-tax-sham-could-lead-to-criminal-in…

Well that was almost a year ago at the July 2015 Tynwald so where are CBC – KPMG et al up to now?

Politicians - The Cheeky Blighters!

News from the Celtic League:

IOMTODAY is trailing a story in the Examiner suggesting politicians may gerrymander their way out of the ‘terrible pay dilemma’ they have by simply adjusting the pay spines they are linked to (I can think of a pun based on spine at this point!)

It seems that this may be the ‘winning’ formula that the Emoluments Committee led our own resident ‘Wizard of Oz’ Steve Rodan SHK may have come up with. Here’s a link to the committee:

European Union Not Defending Worker's Rights

On 23rd June the referendum on whether the United Kingdom will leave or stay in the European Union will be held. The European Union (EU) is an economic-political union made up of 28 member states located primarily in Europe. The build up to the referendum has seen a variety of claim and counterclaim about the benefits of leaving or staying in the EU.

How Long Can We Afford this 'Madness'

News from the Celtic League:

Maintaining a Lt Governor in a time of austerity is outrageous as I explain in this item on Manx Radio.

By the way my maths were ‘slightly’ out as it is probably £10/12 thousand a month more than the figure I cite! Makes you wonder how long this madness can continue:

Here’s the story with a clip at the link I presume the full interview may be (have been) used of Mandate:
