Whilst we accept that direct action taken by some of our youngsters who draped a banner over a bridge in an attempt to protect Cornwall from the influx of rule ignoring visitors earlier in 2020 may have been rather futile, and after all, we were all young once and had little or no confidence in the 'democratic' system, an exercise conducted to reveal the underhand tactics by some tourist companies has shown one up for being what they truly are!

Ghost of "The White Lady" of Strathaven Castle

Many Scottish castles are reputed to be haunted. Some are remote and set in brooding landscapes, adding to that sense of something sinister lurking within their walls. However, stories of ghosts are often linked to the old buildings of all types found in Scotland's town and cities. Many old castles, often in ruins, can also be found in the heart of these urban communities. One such place is Strathaven Castle, where the ghost of "The White Lady" is said to haunt. White Lady ghost legends are found in many places.

Once Again British Labour Party Stabs Scotland in the Back

Today (21st December) Keir Starmer, the leader of the British Labour Party, made his much hyped speech on YouTube about devolution plans under under any possible future Labour government. Although purporting to voice Labour's commitment to delivering a wave of devolved government across the Britain, it was really a desperate attempt to sabotage any desire for independence by the Scottish people.

New poll equals record high in support for Scottish Independence

A new poll published today (17th December) by Savanta ComRes for the Scottish newspaper The Scotsman has revealed that support for an independent Scotland has equalled its record level of 58 per cent. This is also the 17th poll in a row showing a majority of Scottish voters would vote Yes to independence. In addition to the poll showing a consistent desire for Scottish independence there is also a boost in support for the Scottish National Party (SNP). 

Gwenn Ha Du returns to Nantes

The Breton flag Gwenn Ha Du (GHD) will be raised on the Nantes town hall after many years of campaigning by Breton patriots.

Brittany Réunie's long fight since 2014 has paid off and is finally concrete, with the set up of the Breton GHD flag at the city hall of Nantes, Thursday, December 17, 2020.

This set-up of the Breton GHD flag is a great step forward for reunification, due to this symbolic act, and after the city of Nantes and Nantes Métropole.

Man Jailed After Crossing the Irish Sea on Jet Ski from Scotland to Covid-19 Free Isle of Man

A man has appeared at the Isle of Man Courts of Justice (Manx: Quaiylyn Cairys Ellan Vannin) after a bizarre and dangerous crossing across the Irish Sea from Scotland to the Isle of Man. Dale McLaughlan aged  28 from Irvine in North Ayrshire made the journey on a jet ski despite having never driven one before. The Scottish coast is the closest in distance to the Isle of Man (Manx: Mannin) of all its neighbouring countries. The Point of Ayre (Manx: Kione ny Hayrey) is the northernmost point of the Isle of Man being just 16 miles (26 km) south of Burrow Head in Scotland.

Llywelyn ap Gruffudd - last genuine Prince of Wales, killed on this day in 1282

Prince Llywelyn ap Gruffudd (c. 1223 – 11 December 1282) was the last genuine Prince of Wales before the English forcibly occupied Wales.  He was killed on this day, December 11th, 1282 at Cilmeri, near Builth Wells (Welsh: Llanfair-ym-Muallt)  A memorial stone is on the site of his death where an annual remembrance day is held. Llywelyn was the second of the four sons of Gruffydd,ap Llywelyn Fawr  and grandson of Llywelyn the Great, and Senana ferch Caradog.

Immediately after the Armistice with Germany which ended the First World War in 1918, a General Election was called in the United Kingdom. On 14 November it was announced that Parliament would dissolve on 25 November, with elections on 14 December. The Irish General Election of 1918 was that part of the 1918 general election which took place in Ireland. In 1918 the whole of Ireland was a part of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, and was represented in the British Parliament by 105 MPs. It was a significant moment in modern Irish history.
