Loughinisland: Ombudsman Finds There Was Collusion Between Police And Loyalist Killers

Loughinisland (Irish: Loch an Oileáin) is a small village in County Down in the north of Ireland. It was the location on 18 June 1994 where members of a loyalist terrorist group (Ulster Volunteer Force UVF) burst into the Heights Bar and opened fire with assault rifles. They murdered six people and wounded five others. The pub was targeted because it was frequented mainly by Catholics, and was crowded with people watching the Republic of Ireland team playing Italy in the 1994 FIFA World Cup being held in the USA.

KPMG Tax Dodge - We Say 'Keep Up The Good Work CBC'

News from Mannin Branch of the Celtic League:

Doesn’t time fly? It seems like only yesterday that Canadian Broadcaster CBC interviewed the Speaker of the House of Keys Steve Rodan SHK about tax transparency and of course Steve waxed lyrical (see link):

Well that was almost a year ago at the July 2015 Tynwald so where are CBC – KPMG et al up to now?

The Need to Cherish and Respect the Native Gaelic Speaker

In an Article entitled “Irish is a Necessary Language – The Plight of the Native Speakers..” by journalist and Language Activist Sorcha Ní Chéilleachair, the Author speaks of how the Gaelic Tongue is cherished and respected in Irish speaking communities, of her concerns about the future of the language and her hopes that the living beating heart of the Celtic culture of Ireland will survive.

The following are excerpts from the article in the Irish Times, the full text can be found via the link below.

MOD: No LQA Undertaken At Chemical Weapons Sites In Wales And Cornwall

News From The Celtic League:

The Ministry of Defence has responded in quite specific detail to queries we raised with them about the chemical weapons manufacturing site at Nancekuke in Cornwall and also chemical weapons storage facilities in Wales at Llanberis and Llandrog.

We had written to them in late April enquiring if Land Quality Assessments (LQAs) undertaken at all current and disused MOD sites had included the three chemical weapons sites (link):

Politicians - The Cheeky Blighters!

News from the Celtic League:

IOMTODAY is trailing a story in the Examiner suggesting politicians may gerrymander their way out of the ‘terrible pay dilemma’ they have by simply adjusting the pay spines they are linked to (I can think of a pun based on spine at this point!)

It seems that this may be the ‘winning’ formula that the Emoluments Committee led our own resident ‘Wizard of Oz’ Steve Rodan SHK may have come up with. Here’s a link to the committee:

European Union Not Defending Worker's Rights

On 23rd June the referendum on whether the United Kingdom will leave or stay in the European Union will be held. The European Union (EU) is an economic-political union made up of 28 member states located primarily in Europe. The build up to the referendum has seen a variety of claim and counterclaim about the benefits of leaving or staying in the EU.

Search For Marylin Munroe's Scottish Ancestors

Marilyn Monroe (June 1, 1926 - August 5, 1962) was an American actress and model. She died at the age of 36 at her home in Los Angeles on August 5, 1962. Although the death was ruled a probable suicide, a number of conspiracy theories have been suggested in the decades since her death. Had she lived she would now have reached her 90th birthday. However, she continues to be considered a major American popular culture icon and remarkably her stardom has not only survived but escalated since her death.

Newgrange Reveals The Ancient Bond Between Dogs and Humans

The prehistoric monument of Newgrange (Irish: Sí an Bhrú) in County Meath, Ireland, was built during the Neolithic period around 3000 BC to 2500 BC. Making it older than Stonehenge and the Egyptian pyramids. Regarded as a place of great ceremonial and religious significance, it is aligned in a way that allows the light from the rising sun to shine directly into the chamber on the winter solstice.

How Long Can We Afford this 'Madness'

News from the Celtic League:

Maintaining a Lt Governor in a time of austerity is outrageous as I explain in this item on Manx Radio.

By the way my maths were ‘slightly’ out as it is probably £10/12 thousand a month more than the figure I cite! Makes you wonder how long this madness can continue:

Here’s the story with a clip at the link I presume the full interview may be (have been) used of Mandate:
