Abuse and anti Cornish racism

We get to see a lot of bigotry and ignorance (example received below in our mail box today and attached) and some would be shocked at the content of some of the emails and messages we are sent.

Some we directly report to the police and other authorities via the 'True Vision' website because they are in direct contravention of our rights as Cornish people given under the Framework Convention for the Protection of National Minorities.

Others we just laugh at.

United Nations Calls Out London For its Failure to Support Gaelic in in the North

The Gaelic League (Conradh na Gaelige) are the main voluntary community organisation that promotes the Irish language in Ireland and abroad, The Gaelic League’s main aim is to reinstate the Irish language as the common tongue of Ireland.  Since its founding in 1893, members have been actively promoting Irish in every aspect of life in Ireland, from legal and educational affairs to the development of media and services through Irish.  Members of the Gaelic League are in the forefront of campaigns to strengthen the rights of the Irish speaking community.

Welsh Devolution and the Celtic Tongue

In January of this year Transceltic reported that the Welsh Language Society (Cymdeithas yr Iaith Gymraeg) was calling for the members of the Welsh Assembly to use the Welsh Language in the conduct of their official duties.

Politicians and local fishermen have reacted sharply to a decision by the UK Ministry of Defence to designate at area of the West of Scotland off-limits to fishermen to allow a larger area for submarine training.

News from the Gaelic League – State Services Continually Not Provided in Gaelic as is Required by Law

Six years in to the “20 Year Strategy for the Irish Language 2010-2030", the Gaelic League has condemned the lack of progress by the Irish government in providing State Services in Gaelic as is required by law. Quoting from the press release issued by the Gaelic league (Full Text Below):

Latest Skirmish in the Battle to Save the Welsh Language from the ill effects of Property Development

Earlier this year Transceltic reported on a new Welsh law that had come in to effect to counter the impact on the Welsh language heartland caused by property development.  “The Planning (Wales) Act 2015”, requires an assessment of the impact of new property development on the Welsh language.  Prior to planning permission being granted any perceived degradation to the Celtic tongue caused by an inflow of English speakers connected to the real estate venture must be made a “material consideration” as part of the process of obtaining planning permission for new construction

'Sea Monsters' On The Prowl Again

News from the Celtic League:

‘There’s no time to waste’ with only possibly another two years before the EU super trawlers are kicked out of UK waters (unless that is the UK sell-out the fishermen for a trade deal – which has been known!) the ‘monster boats’ are at sea again.

After lying up in the Netherlands the MV Annelies Ilena is on the move again and on present course it seems to be heading for the North West of Scotland or the Atlantic coast off NW Ireland (we will be keeping tabs).

Wales March On To Semi Finals of Euro 2016 After Victory Over Belgium

Wales (Cymru) are through to the semi-finals of the 2016 UEFA European Championship (the international men's football championship of Europe). They secured a well deserved 3 - 1 victory over Belgium last night. 

Belgium started well and took an early lead after a spectacular long-range shot from Radja Nainggolan. But Wales equalised before half-time through an Ashley Williams header. In the second half Hal Robson-Kanu's skillful footwork put Wales ahead. The third goal for Wales was scored by substitute Sam Vokes who headed home a well passed cross from Chris Gunter.
