Entitled Manx Words this pocket dictionary is a fantastic addition to the growing material available for both learners and speakers of the language.

Hidden Treasure Found On Scottish Estate

Amateur metal detectors have discovered some very rare objects buried in the grounds of Ardkinglas Estate. Ardkinglas Estate, which covers about 4800 hectares, is situated on the shores of Loch Fyne a sea loch on the west coast of Argyll and Bute (Scottish Gaelic: Earra-Ghaidheal agus Bòd). The finds include three bronze axe heads, dating back more than 4,000 years. Other discoveries spanned the centuries and included coins, a coin weight, a silver buckle buckle from the 16th century and a gold insular mount dating from the 8th or 9th century.

The first border protest is being organised for the above day and times. 

This is to be a peaceful and lawful event. 

It is being organised by female Bards of Gorsedd Kernow with support from others. 

Our Kernow Matters bus is filled already with attendees. 

Several Councillors from across Cornwall are likely to be joining us.

Celtic Stories, Myths and Fairy Tales Celebrated at Manx Litfest 2016

The Manx Litfest 2016 celebrated Celtic literature in a night of storytelling, myths and fairy tales in the town of Peel (Manx: Purt ny h-Inshey) in the Isle of Man (Manx: Mannin) on Saturday, October 1. The event featured visiting Celtic authors Dr Sharon Blackie and Kevin MacNeil, in conversation with lecturer Dr Catriona Mackie. Readings of myths and poetry, along with live Celtic music entertained the audience. Sharon Blackie is a writer, psychologist and mythologist, specialising in Celtic Studies. Once a crofter on the Isle of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides, Sharon now lives in Donegal.

S4C Documetary 'Rebels Iwerddon 1916 gyda Lyn a Dylan Ebenezer'

An interesting programme is being screened tonight on S4C the Welsh-language public-service television service broadcast throughout Wales. 'Rebels Iwerddon 1916 gyda Lyn a Dylan Ebenezer' sees broadcaster Lyn Ebenezer and his son and fellow broadcaster Dylan embark on a special journey to trace the history and hear the experiences of people who were instrumental in the history of establishing the Republic of Ireland.

Stranded Scottish Cadet Seamen Return Home

We highlighted the plight of the Scottish cadet officers who were stranded when the vast Korean Hanjin shipping corporation went into liquidation.

Their ship was eventually able to dock in Singapore so a happy ending for them (link);

Ireland - Charles Stewart Parnell ‘Ivy Day’ Glasnevin Cemetery Commemoration 2016

Irish nationalist politician Charles Stewart Parnell (June 27, 1846 – October 6, 1891) died on 6 October 1891. When his funeral took place at Glasnevin Cemetery on 11th October it was one of the largest seen in Ireland. In his memory Ivy Day (Irish: Lá an Eidhneáin) is observed on October 6 in Ireland. On the Sunday closest to that date a ceremony takes place at Parnell's graveside in Glasnevin Cemetery and an oration delivered in his honour

The Old Village of Lawers And The Famous 17th Century Scottish Soothsayer

Loch Tay (Scottish Gaelic, Loch Tatha) is a freshwater loch in the central highlands of Scotland. Long and narrow the Loch is about around 14.55 miles (23.42 km) long, around 1 to 1½ miles wide, and over 490 ft (150 m) deep in places. Loch Tay has a long history of human use and settlement and in the Iron Age man-made islands on the loch, known as crannogs, were made. More than 20 submerged crannogs have been found.
