More CBC Revelations on Isle of Man ‘Tax Sham’

NEWS FROM THE CELTIC LEAGUE

The ‘KPMG Tax Sham’ involving the Isle of Man reported last month by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation continues to reverberate according to further reports by the Corporation.

It is now understood up to 25 people may have used the ‘tax plan’ which Canadian Revenue authorities are pursing.

The issue has also embroiled members of the Canadian government as highlighted in an earlier CBC report (link);

In addition to the Canadian media which sent a team to the Isle of Man earlier this year tax justice campaigners in Canada and also Trade Unionists are angry at the revenue evading scheme. The National President of Canada’s second largest Union the NUPGE said two weeks ago:

“For low- and middle-income Canadians, tax avoidance by the wealthy and privatizing public services have the same result: the average person pays more so a few wealthy individuals can get even wealthier,”
