‘Amnesty Ireland call for investigation to establish if human rights abuses occurred’

Large crowds of people have protested in Dublin about the action of Police and a Security firm to evict homeless protesters. The mainstream media (msm)reported two hundred people but as usual msm cannot be believed and this twitter feeds from a protester show that the crowd is vast:

Anger has been exacerbated when it was revealed that the security firm involved did not operate within the framework that governs there conduct in that they were not identifiable, Additionally its emerged the vehicle they used was untaxed and had been without tax for four years despite this Police concentrated their attention on protests both those evicted and some who had gathered to support.

Amnesty Ireland has put out a statement calling for an enquiry into the episode They said:

“What we have seen raises concerns about possible excessive and unnecessary use of force against what appear to be peaceful protestors. Whenever the lawful use of force by An Garda Síochána is unavoidable, it must be used with restraint and in proportion to the seriousness of the law enforcement objective,” said Fiona Crowley, Research and Legal Manager for Amnesty International Ireland.

“Gardaí should only facilitate and support the actions of private security personnel where they are lawful and do not involve excessive force. In this regard, it is of concern that the private security personnel reportedly failed to display identity badges as required under section 30 of the Private Security Services Act.

“We urge that these events be investigated as a matter of urgency to ascertain if human rights abuses were committed, and if so, ensure appropriate action.”
