THE DOWN SIDE OF THE CRUISE IDYLL
Breton website 7seizh carries a report from the Marine and Seafarers safety organisation MOR GLAZ in which the criticise the shooting last month of a polar bear on the Island of Svalbard.
The cruise organisation involved said the animal was shot in self defence which calls into question the motives in humans being so close to an animal species which is already threatened with extinction. Anyway there is one less now I hope all the happy cruise customers got their money's worth.
Of course a big selling feature of these Arctic cruises is the wildlife - ironic doesn't do the situation justice!
