Congratulations from Celtic nations to Breton side Rennes on football victory over English team Arsenal

The Breton football team of Stade Rennais Football Club, commonly referred to as Stade Rennais, SRFC or Rennes are celebrating victory over the English side Arsenal on Thursday. It was the first leg of the their EUFA League 16th round match, which they won by 3 goals to 1. They are based in Rennes (Breton: Roazhon), a city in the east of the Celtic nation of Brittany (Breizh).  Rennes plays its home matches at the Roazhon Park, located within the city.  They are one of the clubs that can play in what is known as the Derby Breton. This can mean any contest between two football associations in Brittany. However it is mostly used in regard matches involving the Breton clubs of Stade Rennais and FC Nantes.

Rennes has a number of supporters groups and one section of the stadium is occupied by the Roazhon Celtic Kop (RCK). The Breton identity is regularly displayed as is the use of Celtic symbols.  The RCK were responsible for having made the largest Gwenn-ha-du in history measuring 270 square metres. displayed at the Mordelles stand during the 1994–95 season. The flag of Brittany, is called the Gwenn-ha-du, which means white and black in Breton. Breton is the Celtic language of Brittany and along with Cornish, Welsh, Irish, Scottish Gaelic and Manx is one of the last remaining six Celtic languages spoken in the world today.
