Kilclooney More Court and Portal Tombs

Kilclooney More (Irish: Cill Chluanadh Mhór) is a townland halfway between Narin (Irish: An Fhearthainn) and Ardara (Irish: Ard an Rátha) at the R261 road on the Loughrea Peninsula in County Donegal, Ireland (Contae Dhún na nGall, Éire). There are court and portal tombs in this area. Court tombs would have been been constructed in around 4000–3500 BC. Portal (Dolmen) tombs date to around 4000–3000 BC. The site is accessed via a track behind Kilclooney Church off the R261 at Kilclooney north from Ardara.

There are two Portal Tomb's on this site. The larger, which is east of the R261 road and has a large roofstone supported at an angle by two portal stones about 1.8 metres in height. There is a backstone and another stone on top supporting the roofstone. Pieces of Neolithic pottery at this site are now in the possession of the National Museum of Ireland. The other, quite well preserved, smaller tomb is located west of the R261 road, in a shallow basin north of the Abberachrin River. The court tomb is located north of the smaller portal tomb and also west of the R261 road. The gallery of this tomb is about 6 m long with a width of some 2.0 to 2.5 m with three orthostats on each side.
