National Trust Wales "Petticoats of Power" exhibition at Llanerchaeron

The National Trust’s Women and Power programme was created to mark the 100th anniversary of the Representation of the People Act, which first gave some women the vote. The National Trust is a charity that aims to preserve and protect historic properties as well as historic landscapes, historic urban properties, and nature reserves  Over the year they have been exploring the stories of the women (and men) from the places it manages, who fought both for and against female suffrage through new exhibitions, podcasts, art installations and other events.

The National Trust in Wales is involved in exploring the stories and struggles of the inspirational women that worked in or owned some of the places in Wales that it is now involved with. One such place is Llanerchaeron, known as Llanayron House it was designed and built in 1795 by architect John Nash and is near Ciliau Aeron, about 2½ miles south-east of Aberaeron, Ceredigion, Wales. "Petticoats of Power" is an exhibition being held at the house that aims to highlight the powers harnessed by the women who worked alone or with their partners to look after Llanerchaeron over generations. The exhibition is on until 7th October 2018 and details can be seen on the NT Wales Llanerchaeron website.
