In 'La La Land' with Skelly and 'The Chamber of Chancers'

It's almost armageddon on Manx Radio. There’s hosepipe bans, the red meat market has collapsed even the Beach Buddies dog has gone to ‘the great lamppost in the sky’.

I start thinking of that quote from Robert Oppenheimer: "I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds” and right on cue Manx Radio have an item with Enterprise Minister Laurence Skelly MHK on their pages.

These days the news is morphing into drama productions as well it seems. It may be a reaction to Alf’s desire to do horrible things to the station. Anyway the Skelly story is pure ‘La La Land’ (link):

Skelly - and it goes without saying ‘the Chamber of Chancers’ want to see our population expand although they know it’s a pipedream. To paraphrase the La La Land story.

“COMIN, Skelly and the Chamber are drawn together by their common desire to do what they love import people to even further dissipate the indigenous population. But as success mounts they are faced with decisions that begin to fray the fragile fabric of their desire, and the dreams they worked so hard to maintain in each other threaten to rip them apart.”

Only for the last bit substitute ‘us’ for ‘them’.

There is a kind of unwillingness to see reality in COMIN. The Chief Minister keeps telling us all that he is playing some pivotal role in the Islands Brexit future when in actual fact no one in the UK gives a toss about the Island or him. Meanwhile the other day Manx had a story with Treasury Minister Alf Cannan ‘welcoming’ (note that word) Moody’s dire post Brexit Manx scenario prediction - makes one wonder if Alf is not suffering COMIN induced PTSD. Meanwhile at the Department for Enterprise Skelly stares into the abyss and starts to sing.

As for Reform Minister Chris Thomas MHK he is keeping very quiet like a man who has realised he’s in an asylum and doesn’t wish to draw attention to himself.

At the moment the economic fortunes of Argentina look more positive than Mann so that potential cruise on the ‘Azamara Pursuit’ of the coast of Patagonia is starting to look more attractive by the day.
