Help needed for Manx hedgehogs

The Manx Hedgehog Conservation Society (MHCS) is asking that people help provide food and water for hedgehogs. This comes after a period of sustained hot and dry conditions on the Isle of Man (Mannin). On the Society facebook page they say: "HEDGEHOGS NEED FOOD AND WATER !!!! Hogs are desperately digging into the ground to find worms and if by morning they are still hungry they are continuing foraging during the day ....the hot temperatures are diminishing their other food source .. Slugs & Snails !!! We are taking many phone calls regarding hedgehogs out and about in daylight hours and advising what you can do to help our Islands hogs." The call for help advised that hedgehogs found in difficulties should be given cat or dog food and water not milk.

The Manx Hedgehog Conservation Society is a charity founded on May 15, 2015. It has the stated aim "to encourage and give advice to the Manx public concerning rehabilitation and preservation of sick, injured and orphaned hedgehogs."
