'Gut wrenching commentary on the demise of a culture'

No hint of doom and gloom they other day when I get a missive from Adrian Cain announcing the production of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in Manx so I was a little surprised to read this news item on Manx Radio:

https://www.manxradio.com/news/isle-of-man-news/manx-gaelic-features-in-...

It can’t be inspired by Culture Vannin surely as of late what with videos of rushes being carted up ‘Baroole’ etc and loads of ‘I love Manx Culture’ badges this projects a somewhat more sombre note.

Still I suppose academic institutions in Germany or wherever have to get up to something to fill their time.

I was only reminded the other day of the plight of the Mazur having endured - it really is a harrowing tale - another viewing of the iconic (2011) film ‘Roza’.

I recommend it but it's not something you should watch with a carton of popcorn. It certainly gives an insight into the abyss that some cultures endure. Then of course their are the Kursieniki of the Curonian Spit - they don’t even warrant a film - do they exist any more? Perhaps a few still cling to that Baltic strip. Perhaps after Manx Culture the academics of Wurzburg will turn their eyes East and enlighten us - or perhaps they have already done it!
