From 4th - 12th May, the Redadeg runs across Brittany to promote the Breton language

Ar Redadeg is an organised running event across Brittany involving thousands of people. The aim is to promote the Breton language which is one the last six Celtic languages spoken in the world today, the others being Cornish, Welsh, Irish, Scottish Gaelic, and Manx. The event takes place every two years in support of various projects related to the Breton language. 

In all 1,800 kilometers are covered and the route for Ar Redadeg is planned so it goes through the five historic Breton départements: Penn-ar-Bed (Finistère), Aodoù-an-Arvor (Côtes-d'Armor), Mor-Bihan (Morbihan), Il-ha-Gwilen (Ille-et-Vilaine) and Liger-Atlantel (Loire-Atlantique). Redadeg will take place from 4 to 12 May 2018 starting at Kemper (Quimper) a baton is passed along the route by the runners as a symbol of the transmission of the language from generation to generation.
