Cefnllys Castle (Welsh: Castell Cefn-llys). The remains of two thirteenth century Norman castles close together are on this site on a ridge above the River Ithon (Welsh: Afon Ieithon). The first on the north of the ridge was constructed in the mid thirteenth century but suffered severe damage and further one was constructed to the south east. Of the two the more significant remains are of the latter with a round tower within a walled court. The site is located off minor roads about two miles west of Llandrindod Wells, Powys, Cymru. It is has been suggested that the location could have been the site of an Iron Age hillfort
