Support grows for Welsh names Yr Wyddfa and Eryri only and not Snowdon and Snowdonia

Further to the article in Transceltic (28th April 2021) "Pressure for Snowdon to be known only by Welsh name Yr Wyddfa". Support is now growing for using only the Welsh names Yr Wyddfa instead of Wyddfa/Snowdon and Eryri instead of Eryri/Snowdonia. A petition has been launched to Parc Cenedlaethol Eryri - Eryri National Park to go ahead and make this change. Earlier this week the national park authority did not accept the motion put forward by Cllr John Pughe Roberts to get rid of the name of Snowdon in favour of only the Welsh language name. The park authority stating this was because a committee was looking into the matter. Cllr John Pughe Roberts has accused the councillors on Snowdonia National Park Authority who opposed it, of not having “any confidence in the Welsh language” and of “kicking the can down the road”.
