Famous inter-Celtic sailing race CeltiKup comes to the Nautic Paris Boat Show

CeltiKup will come to the Nautic Paris Boat Show on Sunday, December 10, 2017. Information about the CeltiKup will be presented by Le Centre Nautique du Pays de  Lorient (CNPLorient). The Nautic Paris Boat Show is held annually in December. It brings together all sectors of the watersports industry and will be held from Saturday 2 to Sunday 10 December 2017. 

The CeltiKup is a sailing race across the Celtic seas that is held every year, usually on the first week of August. It is creates both a sporting and cultural link between the the Celtic nations of Brittany (Breizh) and Cornwall (Kernow) and the Interceltic Festival of Lorient. The 450-mile course from Lorient (Breton: An Oriant)  takes place in three stages. With stops in the Breton port of Douarnenez in  Finistère (Breton: Penn-ar-Bed), the Cornish town of Falmouth (Cornish: Aberfala) and a direct return to Lorient. 

Information on the event can be read on the CNPLorient website. It starts with registration at Lorient, with the first leg setting off for Douarnenez the following day. Douarnenez Bay is said to be the site of the lost city of Ys in Breton folklore. The sailing race then moves on to Falmouth before returning to Lorient where the prize giving is undertaken as part of the Interceltique Festival in Lorient.
