DAIL: MORE PRESSURE OVER NAMA AND MANX MYSTERY BANK ACCOUNT
As expected the NAMA affair once again surfaced in the Dáil today with sharp exchanges between Deputy Mick Wallace and the Taoiseach.
Wallace restated his position in relation to the £7 million pounds which dropped into a bank account in the Isle of Man and refuted rebuttals, by some outside the Dáil of the story, saying he was 100% certain of his facts.
Although he did not elaborate or name the Northern politician he alleges was to receive the payment (or indeed identify the bank) he extended his allegations alleging other examples of corruption surrounding NAMA.
Once again there were strenuous efforts by the Government and Speaker to get Wallace to take his allegations to the Irish Police however Wallace is urging the government to set up a ‘Commission of Investigation’ and at one stage he said he had:
“come to the conclusion that the Taoiseach does not seem awfully interested in getting to the truth.”
He added:
“There is a stark contrast between how Northern Ireland is dealing with this and how the Government is dealing with it.”
The details of the Dail exchange can be found at pages 20/21 of ‘Leaders Question’s’ in today’s Oireachtas record.
Meanwhile outside the Dáil things were just as fast moving and NAMA Chief Executive, Brendan McDonagh has said he will write to the Garda Commissioner and ask him to investigate the claims.
